To effectively complete the responsibilities of this position, the candidate must be able to complete the following:
- Complete hazard assessments
- Complete daily preventative maintenance checks on equipment.
- Able to excavate mainline and service trenches
- Able to excavate tie-ins
- Crane pipe
- Operate a hoe packer
Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and site activities
- Problem solving and decision making capabilities
- Underground (water and sewer) experience is preferred.
- Understand elevations and grading
- Listens to direction
- Strong communication skills
- Dedicated, reliable, hard-working
- Must be able to work as a member of a greater team
Education:
- Class 5 operators license
- Clean drivers abstract
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification
- Active Ground Disturbance
- Active Confined Space
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the work season April to December.
- Must be physically fit to perform manual labour in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting.
- Must have CSA approved safety boots.
