THE OPPORTUNITY
Ecora's Health & Safety Coordinator based out of the Kelowna office is an integral part of the team, helping to deliver our HSE program. Working closely with the Discipline and Team Leads, People Department and Site Supervisors on a day-to-day basis, the successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of health and safety and ensure team members and contractors remain in compliance with relevant safety legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all team members, contractors, and clients and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Act as the first point-of-contact for all health and safety inquiries and incidents.

Work with the site supervisors and assist them with the overall safety of each site.

Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

New hire orientations and training.

Tailgate & Safety Meeting prep and reviewing with team members when in site.

Ensure inspections are being done on a regular basis.

Create and share safety alerts and monthly Safety Memo for Ecora's intranet.

Assist with the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports as required.

When required, deliver health and safety education, awareness training and presentations.

Assist in the development of site-specific plans.

Track and maintain PPE and Vehicle Safety Kits.

Update OHS policies and procedures as needed and be up to date on current and upcoming WorkSafeBC legislation.

Assist with annual emergency response drills.

Lead incident investigations and provide recommendations for incident reduction measures.

Coordinate the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.

Assist in the identification and analysis of trends.

Annual safety audits for multiple locations and ensure Certifications are kept in good standing.

Tracking hours, safety stats and MIR.

Monthly submission of safety documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of environmental, health and safety work experience.

Completion of a relevant Health & Safety Program.

Understanding of WorkSafeBC legislation.

Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills.

Understanding of emergency management requirements.

Able to work independently and provide strong support for Leads as and when required.

Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Robust customer service and training skills.

Strong work-ethic with a consistent ability to perform.

Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills.
