Assistant Transit Manager
Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Transit Manager is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting of all conventional, custom and Para-Transit service activities for PWTransit’s operation in the Northwest BC Region. The Assistant Manager provides direction to Transit Bus Operators and other staff to ensure that transit service is delivered to the community as per BC Transit policy/contract parameters and company expectations.
Education and Related Work Experience:
- College/university education or significant industry experience in public transit in either a management or supervisory role
- Several years of transit industry experience, specifically experience in supervising transit operations staff preferred
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, organize, manage, and evaluate the operations and budget of PWTransit’s Northwest BC operation
- Direct the workforce to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and transit system efficiencies
- Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the operations staff
- Direct the activities of staff in relation to transit operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking vehicle maintenance etc.
- Ensure that all PWTransit staff are aware of Company policies / procedures and monitor compliance
- Plan, develop, and implement health and safety, and security programs and meetings
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff complies with policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations
- Assist with the negotiation and authorize contracts within approval authority limits, direct procurement activities related to transit operational needs
- Direct and manage governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to transit activities
- Forecast, document and report Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of the transit operations and develop strategies to correct problem areas
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
- Recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property to increase efficiency and services of transit operations
- Interview applicants and hire new employees
- Manage employee Worksafe claims
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
