Job Summary
Mechanical Insulation workers will be required to apply various insulating materials to mechanical pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems to help control and maintain temperature. Responsibilities of the mechanical insulator will include measuring and cutting materials to be installed using knives and hand tools, as well as handling of insulating materials to both set up jobs and clean up after completion.
Insulators are expected to be capable of working both independently and as part of a team while following WISL’s safe work practices and completing all required pre-job safety documentation.

Job Duties
- Measure size and length of mechanical piping and ductwork to accurately cut insulation materials to required sizes with minimal waste
- Use of basic hand tools such as knives, hand drills, measuring tapes, tin snips, scissors
- Cut and install insulation jacketing systems such as aluminum, canvas, or PVC to protect insulation from weather or physical contact
- Coordinate work with project manager and other trades on site
- Lifting and carrying materials around the job site
- Fill out all required pre-job safety documentation
- Work at heights and operate scissor lifts when required
- Work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year at multiple job locations
Requirements
- Reliable means of transportation and valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Personal cellphone
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Ability to operate required tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Basic math skills
Work Conditions
- Ability to work with tools and materials
- Work with or around insulation materials such as fiberglass
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Hazards associated with the construction industry
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.42-$34.57 per hour
