A seasoned communications professional that has created compelling external and internal communications campaigns that utilize the right medium to get the message across. As the Director of Communications, you will lead Oxford’s global communications team, and report to the Vice President, Brand, Marketing & Communications.

In This Role You Will:
Devise and execute upon a strategy to build and enhance Oxford’s reputation across the globe for both external and internal stakeholders.
Manage, develop and grow the careers of your team.
Have responsibility over the global media relations function, and oversee the development of, and deliver on, a proactive global media relations program that is fully integrated with Oxford’s strategic plan, goals and objectives.
Provide input into thought leadership within the department and across the organization on Oxford’s brand and reputation.
Leverage research driven insights to drive innovation in the media relations strategy and broader reputation management activities.
Protect Oxford’s reputation by leading the issues management process to identify, assess and strategically manage potential reputation issues.
Increase awareness of Oxford through a robust, strategic earned media program, working in collaboration with the rest of the team.
Identify and secure speaking opportunities for Oxford’s leadership team that reinforce communications themes and objectives
Provide strategic counsel and advice to senior management and Oxford spokespeople on their interactions with media.
Represent Oxford to a broad stakeholder group by acting as an effective media spokesperson in select circumstances.
Work with the communications team to ensure great execution of internal communications across executive communications and company events
Provide strategic counsel and advice to senior management on positioning and messaging around internal announcements to encourage the sharing of cultural aspirations, knowledge and best practices across our business.
Lead your team to create internal communications programs that utilize a variety of media across video, written word and internal sharing platforms.
Work with our executive leadership team to create engaging presentations and speeches for large internal conferences and companywide meetings.
Engage with peers at OMERS pension plan, our parent company, to coordinate cross-enterprise communications objectives and shape enterprise messaging for the Oxford audience.
We need someone who:
A seasoned communications professional with a minimum of 10 years’ experience with strong media relations experience and expertise.
Comfort and experience interacting with C-Suite leaders and demonstrated ability to effectively influence at the executive level.
3+ years of leading people
Have a strategic mindset with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement communications plans in multiple jurisdictions across the globe.
Can show demonstrated success in assuming a spokesperson role, effectively representing an organization’s position and speaking on record.
Experience creating compelling content via written word and video. Technical knowledge of filming and editing video is not required, but an understanding of what makes for effective video and visual content is essential.
A service-orientated approach to dealing with internal customers
A willingness to share different perspectives to contribute to new ways to go beyond expectations.
The ability to build relationships based in partnership and trust.
A willingness to be flexible to accommodate colleagues across multiple time zones.

Commercial real estate experience is not essential but is helpful.
Bilingual French is also an asset, but not required.
