Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for maintenance and setup/changeovers of all Plant / Processing Equipment, Packaging lines and Ancillary equipment, including troubleshooting any mechanical or pneumatic problems. The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment, such as motors, pumps, valves, air and liquid piping, controls, ovens, and other machines.
Job Description
- Responsible for maintaining all mechanical and electrical systems, as well as all plant machinery
- Responsible for setting up dies, starting up of equipment for production staff
- Work in a safe, hygienic manner at all times, by following established safety, health, sanitation and housekeeping policies and procedures
- Monitor and provide training to production and packaging employees on proper use of equipment
- Troubleshoot electro-mechanical production equipment in order to keep our production lines running at peak efficiency
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the company’s freezers, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, production equipment, material handling equipment and building infrastructure
- Inspect/remove/replace/repair of belts, chains, small motors and gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic valves and cylinders
- Take charge of and help refine the preventive maintenance program, including recommendations on programs and equipment to improve efficiency
- Coordinate with outside contractors as required and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards
- Answer all calls for service and perform other duties as assigned and required
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies
Qualifications
- Experience as a mechanic working in a food manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting packaging, production and material handling equipment
- Proficiency in hand tools and power tools would be a plus
- Capable of basic electrical troubleshooting using a multi-meter
- Knowledge of appropriate health & safety and environmental regulations required
