Director of Finance
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary Range: $107,387.42 to $145,288.86
Location: 2150 Chevrier Blvd. and/or remotely, as required
Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)
The Director, Finance will be responsible for providing financial and general management leadership to MITT, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Finance & payroll departments, processes and system improvement. This includes ensuring that appropriate segregation of duties, controls and risk management measures are in place, meeting all reporting deadlines and providing timely information, analysis and recommendations to the MITT Board, Executive and management group. This is an exciting, challenging and very demanding position where you can make a difference and be the architect of system and process improvement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Promotes leadership to process improvement through improvement and efficiency projects

Champions change and project management through, but not limited to, implementation of risk framework and review processes

Provides subject matter expertise to Executive Management

Prepares monthly financial report and quarterly analysis for Executive Committee, External Audit and Board

Collaborates with and/or develops MITT front line managers and leadership

Leads external audit management

Leads budget process and submissions of MITT budget, manages departmental budgets

Leads the financial management of the MITT charity

Participates in purchasing initiatives and decisions.

Reviews all payroll submissions

Cash management and participation in investment management

Direct supervision of department managers and supervisors

Manage and supervise personnel and complete all administrative functions (including talent management, goal setting, coaching, training and professional development, discipline, annual reviews) for office staff.

Promote and follow safe work practices in accordance with Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health legislation, Safe Work Manitoba guidelines, and in adherence to MITT’s safety and health policies and procedures. Ensure the health and safety of staff and other employees by identifying safety hazards in the workplace and immediately reporting any unsafe conditions and/or health and safety concerns to MITT’s Health and Safety Coordinator. As well, ensure department staff are provided with training and direction on safe work practices.

Completion of Federal and Provincial returns including GST and PST
Required Qualifications and Experience:
A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Accounting designation (CPA), as well as a minimum of five years of experience in accounting

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Exceptional communication skills, oral and written

Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making

High integrity and openness combined with commitment to good governance

Project Management, Organizational Change Management and/or Lean training and experience would be an asset

Strong leadership skills – is able to manage departmental tasks / projects effectively

Strong teamwork skills – is able to work with various levels of staff and management effectively to ensure that requirements are appropriately met

Strong organizational skills – is able to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize the work that needs to be done
