Scope
The Transport Assistant delivers police vehicles for mechanical, body and repair work to and from service repair shops according to maintenance schedules as well as transports police members as required.
Responsibilities
As a Transport Assistant, you will: Pick up and deliver a variety of police vehicles, equipment, and supplies. Review and report on any vehicle issues, unreported damage, or missing items. Perform minor vehicle servicing tasks and arrange for disposal/transfer of equipment from retired to new vehicles. Receive incoming materials and check levels of stock for re-ordering.
The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; have thorough knowledge of traffic rules and regulations governing safe operation of passenger automobiles, vans, and trucks; ability to operate automotive vehicles; work independently and organize work projects; have working knowledge of applicable safety regulations; and have physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12, supplemented by related training and experience. A valid B.C. driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance.
