AltaGas - Occupational Health Nurse Lead
The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) Lead is a corporate role based on the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) function, acting as a single point of accountability to execute the strategic vision for occupational health at AltaGas.
You Will:
Use progressive occupational health experience, and a risk-based approach to build comprehensive occupational health programs that support the entire employment lifecycle
Develop and implement occupational health programs and support governance to establish minimum requirements across the enterprise
Support Leave Management of employees’ illnesses and injuries if needed in conjunction with HR and applicable vendors
Identify and integrate preventative measures to promote health and control health hazards (e.g. biological, physical, chemical, ergonomic, psychological)
Support the safety and industrial hygiene programs from a medical perspective
Provide expertise and guidance on workplace policies and practices that affect employee health and safety
Be a strong, confident communicator with an ability to build trusted relationships within the leadership teams as well as at all levels of the organization
Be self-motivated and pro-active technical resource
Be willing to travel to various AltaGas locations to support field operations as required
Work collaboratively and build trusted relationships with other EHS professionals, business and field-based employees as well other functions with AltaGas
Be an advocate for occupational health with business units to develop and build commitment and awareness toward strategies, business plans, programs, policies, and practices
Support other special projects where senior-level subject matter expertise is required
You Have:
7 to 10 years of relevant experience
Nursing degree and professional certification in occupational health (COHN(C)), or working towards obtaining certification
Current, or eligible for, unrestricted registration with provincial or territorial nursing licensing organization for primary work location
Strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical, and planning skills
Leadership experience with strong influencing skills and the ability to identify and manage risk
Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation to a variety of audiences
Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information
Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles
Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs
