The Role
The role reports to the Director, Operations, the Regional Land Manager will lead a team of surface land professionals and manage regional clients throughout Northeastern and Central Alberta.
You are responsible for the leadership of project managers, project coordinators and land agents, and will provide support and guidance in problem-solving. You will work closely with the land analyst team to ensure timely coordination of projects and all work and behaviors are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and LSI's operating principles. You will ensure our product and services are always kept to a high standard and that client's needs are met, while building strong external relationships with ours and our client's stakeholders while creating new growth opportunities.
Internal Responsibilities:

Responsible for communication and updating clients, analysts, project managers, land agents, and the Director, Operations

Work closely with the People & Culture team on recruitment of land agents and other relevant roles for new projects, as required. This includes pre-screening of candidates, ensuring all agents have appropriate licenses, credentials and business insurance if required

Provide training to new and existing employees and contractors on LandSolutions project management and mapping tools and any other required software as well as on LandSolutions policies, procedures, and protocols

Responsible for approval of all contract land/ROW agent invoices

Responsible for management of workloads and delegation of work to land agents, based on client requirements

Work closely with the manager, land analysts to guide and assist analysts regarding administrative duties, acquisitions and/or any other field related matters

Responsible for assisting in the supervision of Land Agents and ensuring consistent rates are being paid to landowners

Oversight and guidance of engagement and consultation and coordination of field visits with Indigenous groups

Travel to the field for negotiation of land related agreements with stakeholders on behalf of our clients
- Ensure messaging to stakeholders is consistent with both client and LandSolutions expectations

Assist with complex files and provide solutions, in order to meet client needs

Ensure proper use of safety equipment, clothing, and devices

Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses

Comply with LandSolutions policies and procedures, applicable laws, and the OH & S Act

Ensure trip planners are complete for yourself and your direct reports

Fully integrate and utilize CRM to manage regional sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data

Work collaboratively with the leadership team and on market strategies to maintain relationships with existing customers, gain new customers, create new business opportunities, and drive growth

Gather required information in order to execute on RFP's for both internal and external requests

Compile proposals in order to meet the expectations of the organization requesting the proposal, while demonstrating LSI services

Manage the status of regional proposals submitted by following up and seeking feedback

Communicate proactively and consistently with clients, while ensuring an understanding of their expectations, that expectations are being met, and client connection is strong

Strive for awareness of new business opportunities that will benefit and fit strategically with LSI's strategy

Assist in developing relationships with potential clients

Actively participate in industry events and conferences including volunteering with relevant industry related associations

Permanent Alberta Land Agent license is required

Minimum 10 years of experience in Land required (other work experience or education may be credited in place of experience)
- Prior management of land acquisition experience in the upstream, midstream pipeline, electrical transmission renewable power, telecommunications sectors in Alberta

Prior experience in business development and leading high performing teams

A strategic leader with excellent verbal, written and communication skills with the ability to connect, interact and motivate others at all levels

Ability to strategize, plan and direct growth opportunities

In-depth knowledge of project management software

Thorough knowledge of all applicable acts, guides, and regulations throughout Alberta
- Valid Driver's license required

Ability to travel at least 30% of time
