PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Equipment Operator will operate any of the following; Loader, Excavator, Skidsteer and Telehandler. When not operating equipment, the Operator will be expected to work with the Labourers to prepare and clean up the construction sites, move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Heavy equipment operators control equipment by moving levers or foot pedals, operating switches and/or turning dials
- Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris)
- Excavate, backfill and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes, operate pneumatic tampers)
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Operate heavy equipment safely
- Utility experience an asset
- Experience with skid steers, excavators, loaders, telehandler
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on Equipment
- Read grade plans and use grade stakes in measuring the amount of earth to be moved
- Follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
- Physical strength and stamina
- Manual dexterity
- A safety-conscious attitude
- The ability to work with others in a team
- Must be willing to work in remote job locations

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $31.68-$36.93 per hour
