The Sierra Construction Group of Companies is growing and looking to add an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental Coordinator. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the HSE Coordinator role will primarily be on-site and plays an integral part of our overall commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

Highlights of Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as on-site Coordinator for the duration of various construction projects
- Attend start-up site meetings to educate, communicate and demonstrate Sierra’s commitment to health, safety and environmental programs
- Update and maintain all H&S training requirements
- Perform regular site audits to inspect, report and record compliance with Sierra policies, procedure and regulatory requirements
- Ensure/monitor that proper HSE documentation of policies and procedures is completed by those responsible
- ISO 14001 and COR Management
- Maintain/monitor HSE management systems
- Maintain/update records
- Assist with annual internal audits of the environmental and H&S management systems for compliance to standards (ISO 14001, COR)
- Assist with corrective actions and improvements for both standards from audits (internal, external).
- Assist with the Early and Safe Return to Work Program and reporting to the WSIB for all workplace injuries (form 7, Worker Progress, etc.)
- Assist with inspections all safety specialized safety equipment (fall protection, confined space, respirators)
- Ensure calibration of required equipment (pipe, rotating lasers, gas monitoring equipment)
- Investigate all incidents for accuracy and causation (near misses, injury, property damage, utility contacts and 3rd party damage claims)
Skills, Background, and Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety capacity within a construction setting
- Interest and ability to act as On-Site Coordinator for the duration of projects
- Successful completion of related post-secondary diploma or certificate program
- Solid understanding and commitment to enforce the provincial Occupational Health & Safety Acts and Regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (internal and external contacts) in order to accomplish objectives
- Experience and confidence as required to coach and influence on-site workers
- Self -motivated, professional and innovative team player who exhibits exemplary written and verbal skills
- Computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, and any construction-based software programs
- Valid Drivers' License with reliable vehicle to commute daily to site
