Purpose of Role:
The IT Systems Engineer will be a member of the Naval Information Technology Infrastructure and Communications Group within the Information and Communication Systems (ICS) Section.
Candidate must have a Canadian Citizenship and have been living in Canada a minimum of 10 years in order to obtain a government security clearance required for the position.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support technical investigations and trade studies into current and future IT systems technologies in support of defining a solution space for our client’s project;
Develop logical and physical system architecture views based on Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Architecture Framework (DNDAF) standards;
Conduct options analysis and cost-benefit analysis exercises resulting in reports;
Organize, prepare, and facilitate workshops to gather requirements;
Conduct requirements analysis, decomposition and tracing, ensuring high level requirements are consistent, complete, correct, singular, necessary and operationally defined;
Analyze information gathered, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high-level information into use cases, user stories, process maps, test cases and technical specifications;
Review and/or generate a set of acceptance test requirements to ensure all of the high-level requirements have been met;
Support reviews of contractor and subcontractor developed design materials;
Support systems engineering lifecycle phase reviews;
Perform system integration planning;
Develop design documentation; and
Follow systems and security engineering processes and best practices.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
Information technology systems engineering, systems security engineering, System Development Life Cycle processes and requirements management and traceability;
Integration and the definition of physical and logical interfaces;
Virtualization concepts including capacity planning and high availability designs;
Concepts related to public vs. private cloud and secure multi-tenancy;
Project management best practices, policies, procedures, and processes. Familiarity with project management tools (Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, IBM DOORS);
Ability to work to tight timelines and take on additional roles or responsibilities when needed;
Demonstrated experience working well with customers of varying levels of technical expertise in complex environments; and
Excellent English writing skills, including technical artefacts, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
