Independent Living Support (ILS) Manager

Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Independent Living Supports (ILS) Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of our apartments in alignment with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Riverview Enhanced Living. This role involves providing leadership, direction, and staff development to ensure the delivery of high-quality, client-centered programs. Work hours will vary based on caseload.
Requirements:
Education/experience in the Human Services field or a Community College Diploma or equivalent with a related field focus, along with one year of experience
Working knowledge of the Nova Scotia Tenancy Act.
Experience in a unionized work environment.
Responsibilities:
PERSON-CENTERED APPROACH:
Advocate for a person-centered approach that prioritizes individual choice and empowerment among staff, participants, and families.
Foster collaborative relationships with professionals from diverse disciplines and agencies, emphasizing a relationship-centric approach to connect with participants and the community.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
Maintain schedules for the ILS/Apartment Program.
Coordinate with landlords to secure suitable apartments for clients.
Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and maintain accurate timekeeping records.
Attend meetings as directed by the position.
Safeguard client privacy, confidentiality, and legal rights.
Oversee the responsible use of comfort funds in accordance with policies.
Assess potential program candidates and provide placement recommendations.
Administer special needs requests, ledgers, and income assistance.
Perform other duties as assigned by and approved by the CEO.
STAFF SUPERVISION:
Provide supervision and ensure staff adherence to policies and procedures.
Cultivate a positive and respectful attitude among staff toward clients.
Ensure staff are well-informed about community resources.
Prepare staff to respond effectively in crisis situations.

Act as a liaison between staff and administration, addressing staff concerns and needs.
Deliver orientation and training to new employees, volunteers, and students.
Identify and recommend training needs for employees.
CLIENT CARE/PROGRAMMING:
Embrace a holistic approach to client care in the least restrictive environment possible.
Promote safety and security of clients through effective staff training and development
Promote person-centred approach to boost client morale andsocial interaction.
Facilitate staff meetings and success plans to contribute to team goal planning.
Address interpersonal issues in apartments therapeutically.
Maintain regular communication/consultation with workplaces.
Stay current with the latest resources and techniques relevant to the field.
Verify the accuracy of all client files.
SAFETY/MAINTENANCE:
Ensure staff help to maintain apartments' cleanliness, safety, and necessary maintenance.
Maintain positive relationships and manage issues with landlords.
Ensure all clients and staff are familiar with evacuation procedures and conduct regular fire drills.
Respond efficiently and effectively to emergency situations.
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Promote organization goals, philosophy and mission to supported persons and families.
Enhance public relations by establishing and maintaining communication with various stakeholders.
Familiarize yourself with the programs offered by the organization and other agencies providing residential alternatives for clients.
