Thales Canada is looking for a Communications / Naval Combat Systems Engineer to support its Non-Combatant In-Service Support Programs for the Royal Canadian Navy.
In this position, you will be responsible for engineering support of Naval Combat Systems including but not limited to:
Navigation Systems
Communications Systems
Command and control systems
Data processing systems
Above water and underwater sensor systems
Ship’s weapons systems and its ammunition
Regulatory Compliance Requirements
Requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the ITAR or the EAR.
Requires a positive Controlled Goods assessment as you will have direct access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Developing and reviewing combat system related technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance job instructions.
Performing Life Cycle and Materiel Management functions including equipment obsolescence, material compatibility and disposal management.
Providing technical support of deficiencies of equipment or capability.
Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with combat systems, equipment and/or software issues, including root cause analyses, risk assessments and solution development.
Manage the preparation of combat system related design change documentation including manufacturing drawings, maintenance and installation instructions, and test and trials documentation.
Analyzing requirements associated with baseline changes to the ship's configuration, equipment and software.
Preparing Work Packages and cost estimates for customer approval.
Preparing documented work scopes, suitable for the solicitation of quotations from external resources such as OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers.
Developing engineering plans, processes and procedures related to combat systems as well as ship-based software.
Bachelor's degree in computer, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or Naval Architecture.
Eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia, Ontario, or British Columbia, Canada.
Minimum 4 years of demonstrated work experience as a Systems Engineer with experience with Marine Communications and/or Navigation Systems.
Previous experience with the Royal Canadian Navy as a Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer.
Experience in delivering marine in-service support of operational assets.
Demonstrated project management experience.
The anticipated Total Target Compensation (TTC), inclusive of annual salary and bonus eligibility, for this role is $81,246.97 - $140,828.09 CAD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, provincial, and federal laws.
