Voyis designs and manufactures high performance underwater optical sensors (lasers, cameras, lights) for underwater vehicles that expand capability and enhance understanding in underwater surveys and exploration. As the VP Operations you will provide strategic vision and direct oversight to all operations functions in organization to ensure that the company can scale to attain its growth goals. This will encompass championing continuous improvements in manufacturing methods & processes and finding efficiencies to deliver on time whilst improving product quality and reliability standards. This role will oversee production, supply chain, quality, manufacturing engineering, and facilities.

We are seeking a person that has a proven track record in building operational excellence, someone that takes initiative, is open to change, and can collaboratively work within the organization to achieve our goals, together.
Manage department leads of Production, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality, including oversight of their responsibilities:
Manufacturing: Management of production processes & equipment, COGs analysis, production scheduling, monitoring key business KPI’s
Quality: Compliance to international standards, Quality Management System, staff training, NCR & ECN implementation
Supply Chain: Order processing, material requirements planning, work order creation, purchasing, supplier management
Definition of operations vision and strategic objectives in collaboration with the individual managers to achieve the forecasted revenue growth
Lead the operations team in providing on time delivery of high-tech products to the required cost & quality standards
Build a culture rooted in continuous improvement and collaboration
High-level oversight of production resourcing and schedule to ensure alignment with the rolling 12-month Sales Forecast and weekly demands
Direct, develop and motivate the operations teams, applying the most appropriate management style to achieve peak work performance while ensuring clear understanding of objectives, roles and responsibilities
Work closely with Finance and the CEO to own the operations budget
Implement a plan for manufacturing facility improvements to enable growth
Work with the Quality manager to develop our quality systems and achieve ISO 9001 certification
Note this is an in-person role at our headquarters in Waterloo. Interviews will begin in October, 2023 after an initial 1-month application period.
7+ years experience in manufacturing, personnel, and operations management
Demonstrable management experience in a similar sized organization
Proven track record in scaling a manufacturing organization
Technical background in Engineering or a related field; understanding of electronics, mechanical, or production engineering
High degree of initiative and ability to make well informed and analytical decisions
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and gain buy-in
Experience with logistics, procurement, and supply chain management
Experience with and high-tech manufacturing (assembly calibration and test), and methodologies such as Lean and 6S
Strong multi-disciplinary project management skills
Good business, commercial, health & safety, and financial knowledge
Proven organisation skills: planning, prioritization, multi-tasking, execution
Tenacity and emotional resilience with a proven ability to cope under pressure
