Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Data Performance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and performance optimization of Sofina’s databases. The candidate will possess a robust technical foundation in database administration, demonstrate exceptional problem-solving abilities, and exhibit a collaborative mindset when working with cross-functional teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage and maintain the organization’s databases, including installation, configuration, and ongoing monitoring.
- Lead, create and implement a comprehensive strategy and plan to upgrade all database environments, and follow through with its execution.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance application performance by optimizing database schema, queries, and indexing strategies.
- Protect the security and integrity of the databases by implementing and maintaining effective security measures, backup systems, and disaster recovery plans.
- Perform regular performance tuning and optimization to maximize database efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including data corruption, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
- Conduct regular database health checks, capacity planning, and resource utilization analysis.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in database administration.
- Create and maintain database documentation, including data models, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data integration, data migration, and other database-related projects.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related work experience.
- Minimum 5 years work experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Proficiency in SQL scripting, stored procedures, and database query optimization.
- Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with database security best practices
- Understanding of database backup and recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of database monitoring and management tools.

Location: Brampton, ON
Working Hours: normal office working hours.
Hybrid: 3 days from office and 2 days from work.
