ETO Engineering has an immediate opening for a Junior- Civil/Structural Engineer. We are looking for an engineer in training with 0-5 years of experience who will be able to assist project managers and senior engineers with day-to-day assignments. As a Junior Civil/Structural Engineer you will play a key role in the entire construction process, from initial design to final implementation. Your expertise and attention to detail will be instrumental in delivering high-quality and structurally sound buildings. The job responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Plan, assess, and design of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities
- Analyze and design structural systems and elements composed of various materials including Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Wood using computer software such as STAAD Pro, SAP 2000 and Etabs
- Perform condition assessment, field visits and write reports detailing condition, observations, project viability and progress
- Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering and administrative work
- Project coordination with other internal/external team members and stakeholders
- Recognize, define and resolve problems within assigned area
- Prepare various technical and administrative reports, memoranda and documents
- Consult with external agencies for permits and approvals
- Prepare civil, architectural and structural engineering drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM) software, e.g. AutoCAD and Revit
- Carry out construction site inspection
- Assist contract administrators with shop drawing review, RFI responses, operations manual preparations, and commissioning planning, etc.
- Review shop drawings and provide feedback to colleagues
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- University graduate with engineering background, preferably in Civil or Structural engineering. Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with PEO.
- Understanding and knowledge of water and wastewater systems
- Strong technical background in civil and structural design
- Understanding of various design codes and Ontario Building Code
- Deep knowledge of construction materials and methodologies
- Problem solving skills to quickly address issues that arise on-site and keep projects on track
- Must have logical thinking and strong technical writing skills
- A desire to work under pressure in an engineering consulting firm
- Ability of informing, listening, and dealing with ambiguity
- Knowledge of engineering principles and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
- Must be proficient using Autodesk CAD and BIM software, AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D etc.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of applications of MS Office Suite and MS Project
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have ‘G’ Driver’s License and access to vehicle for travels
