DBA Tasks - Infrastructure

Provide Oracle DBA support in 24/7 production mission critical environments

Troubleshoot database service issues, identify and resolve performance issues, undertake performance and health monitoring

Perform backup, recovery, and failover to “hot” standby environment
-
Manage replication of Oracle production database to test environments
-
Undertake SQL Script review, manage and control script deployment
-
Maintain appropriate database access control levels and security
Design Task - Development
-
Understand the total database structure at the company
-
Hands on involvement with system design for individual apps
-
Design tables for proprietary software
-
Make UML diagrams to support tables and schemas
-
Dive into queries and figure out root cause and help the developers with query optimization; not just provide explain plans
-
Work with IT team to resolve problems, develop solutions, maintain database standards and act as a technical resource
-
5+ years working exclusively in Oracle DBA role.

Experience with database design
- Advanced skills in database scripting and automation
-
Good understanding of Oracle database structures, theories, principles and practice
-
Significant experience in design, build, install, patch, configure, document and support of Oracle DBMS environments
-
Experience working in team-oriented collaborative environment
-
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Experience of Oracle version migration an asset

Must have a can do attitude and dive into problems
