Junior Water/Wastewater Professional
(full-time permanent position)

We are seeking a Junior Water/Wastewater Professional to join our water-wastewater Infrastructural Renewal, Design and Construction (IRDC) group to provide engineering solutions for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment systems for private and municipal clients. This position will involve work on all aspects of project delivery as described below.
What you will do:

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, help deliver infrastructure projects related to municipal water and wastewater facilities, including condition assessments, feasibility studies, Municipal Class Environmental Assessments, preliminary and detailed design and construction contract administration and inspection

Infrastructure improvement projects may include:

Water booster stations
-
Municipal production well and treatment sites
-
Wastewater pumping stations
-
Wastewater treatment plants
-
Watermain, sanitary sewers, forcemains, and storm sewers
Improvements typically incorporate
-
process pipe and valves
-
process pumps, wastewater grinders, flow meters
-
building plumbing, HVAC systems
-
Process instrumentation
-
Electrical distribution, Instrumentation and Control
-
Standby generator systems
-
Construction sequencing
-
Structural alterations
-
Erosion and sediment control
-
Yard piping
-
Asphalt, landscaping, and restoration
-
Support proposal preparation, report writing, cost estimation, engineering drawing preparation, tendering, construction contract administration, and construction inspection

Support senior design drafting technologists in producing clear, professional design drawings and figures
-
Work towards mastery of relevant guidelines, codes and standards
-
Attend client meetings and conduct site visits

Act as Project Coordinator, communicating with internal discipline leads, sub-consultants, clients, contractors, and Regulatory agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, local Municipalities and conservation authorities

Contribute to team initiatives related to continuous improvement
- This position will involve regular travel to sites within approx. 3-hour drive from Guelph
What you will need:

Graduate of a civil, environmental, or water resource engineering or civil engineering technology program with knowledge of hydraulics and process design

Desire to continuously learn and contribute to our team to provide great infrastructure solutions to our clients

Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, managing your own time and priorities in communication with project managers and team leaders

Ability to build relationships and trust with internal and external team members

Strong organizational, oral, written communication and problem-solving skills
-
Technical writing skills
-
Strong math and science fundamentals relevant to water/wastewater engineering
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Some familiarity with Autodesk software including Civil 3D and/or Revit; additional training will be provided

Possess a valid G driver's licence and have access to a personal vehicle

Knowledge of provincial drinking water and wastewater regulations, Ministry of Environment Design Guidelines, Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and the Ontario Building Code is an asset
