Here’s the Scoop – Summary
In this role, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading a talent team to ensure the efficient operations of production equipment, completion of relevant PMs, infrastructure development, and project management in our highly automated facility. This is a great opportunity for a highly engaging, motivated, and driven individual who desires to lead maintenance and serve on the facilities leadership team to work collaboratively with other departments.
This position is based out of our brand-new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Acheson, Alberta, and will report to the Plant Director.
What an ordinary day looks like:
- Directs the team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of highly complex food processing equipment and utility equipment.
- Tracks key performance indicators on an ongoing basis; identifies and communicates issues to senior management and implements appropriate corrective action to deliver departmental results.
- Maintain qualified maintenance staff to support manufacturing and capital initiatives. Promote personal and professional development.
- Partners with Operations Controller and Plant Director to develop the operating budget for the Maintenance department. Closely monitors and controls departmental costs, including labor and overtime; adjusts as necessary to meet budgetary guidelines.
- Collaborate with all functional managers (i.e. Production, QA, Warehouse, Health & Safety, HR, CI, Operations Controller, etc.) to ensure production needs and changes can be met in while following all GMP/ SQF and Safety protocols.
- Drive capital efficiency by looking at alternative technical solutions and ways to improve costs to implement projects.
- Drive site efficiency by constantly looking at opportunities to improve safety, maintenance costs and productivity wherein the operating life of the equipment is extended, efficiencies are improved, and operating costs are lowered.
- Provide an environment that encourages creative solutions to technical problems, rapid reapplication of best practices, and a willingness to experiment and collaborate.
- Unlock value and execution excellence with the team by bringing new ways of working and developing technical capabilities in the relentless pursuit of driving exceptional site performance.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering and/or technical red-seal certification as Electrician, Millwright, or advanced PLC training required.
- 8+ years of experience leading a high performing Maintenance team through startups/changes/major breakdowns, etc.
- Adept at navigating software programs such as: AutoCAD, MS Project, and/or equivalent CMMS.
- Well versed in processing, filling, packaging, utility systems, etc., typically found in food manufacturing and breadth of experience in reliability systems and processes.
- Excellent capital management and project execution skills, with a successful track record of leading projects within budget.
- Well-grounded in sanitary design principles, project chartering concepts, and processes deployed to ensure project startups are vertical.
- Demonstrated technical and hands-on experience with installation and repairs of manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Proven ability to train, coach, evaluate, and develop team members.
- Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol test.
- Ability to clear a Criminal Record Check and provide references.
