The Role:
This exciting new position will be a part of our Midstream Infrastructure division, and will be responsible for overseeing the safe and accurate movement of products, monitoring of product quality, overseeing sampling and testing procedures, conducting minor maintenance, data collection and ensuring compliance with all safety and government regulations. This individual will ensure that the pipeline system is operating at a high level of efficiency. This role includes working with the pipeline field assets and in the terminal – tank farm.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the safe day to day operation of the pipeline system
- Leads and enforces safe work practices, mitigation of all hazards & risks, addresses non- compliance and non-conformance and adherence to corporate standard operating procedures for all pipeline & terminal operations
- Assist with daily maintenance and operating condition of stations, terminals, mainline, gathering systems, and associated equipment
- Training of new hires
- General housekeeping throughout the pipeline system
- Ensure plant log sheet is completed and filed appropriately
- Develop or review operating procedures as required
- Troubleshoot plant alarms and ESD’s on PLC
- Provide orientation, permits, control of work training to contractors and fellow workers
- Perform monthly safety equipment inspections and document
- Maintain pump and motor oil levels as required
- Assign/complete work orders as required
- Initiate, review, and manage work orders to completion
- Supervise and schedule maintenance activities
- Order repair parts and supplies
- Develop or review maintenance procedures as required
- Follow maintenance and calibration procedures, record and document
- Troubleshoot mechanical & electrical problems
- Evaluate contractor performance
- Participate on incident reporting and resolution
- Participate in Emergency Response Plan (ERP)training exercises
- Participate as required in ERP manual updates
Qualifications/Competencies
The individual in this role will have:
- Intermediate understanding of SCADA systems and hardware
- A minimum of 5 years pipeline operations and procedures experience
- A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent
- A valid and acceptable Driver’s license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing
- Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG, Ground Disturbance, ICS
- Must be able to clearly and accurately document their work and ensure consistent communication with the Facility Manager and other key stakeholders
- Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate good decision-making skills
- Proven ability to work well under limited amount of supervision
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices
- Must demonstrate strong teaching methods regarding all processes in the plant
- Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and accountability to Lead Operator / Facility Manager
- Ensure consistent and clear communication with the Facility Manager and other internal & external stakeholders
- Demonstrate a commitment to safe and efficient operations of the pipeline system
- Participate as required in Operating manual updates
- Participate as required in equipment book updates
- Conformance to company, Federal, provincial regulations as applicable
- Arrange for annual weed control
- Participate in Mutual Aid Committee meetings as requested
- Attend training courses relevant to the position g., H2S, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, Ground Disturbance, ICS, Confined Space
- Receive and delegate/investigate aerial pipeline reports
- Participate in QC tasks such as sampling & meter proving
- Receive and distribute 1st Calls and line locating
