The successful candidate for this position must be a passionate leader who drives safety and innovation.
The key purpose of this role is to ensure reliable and efficient supply of utilities such as steam, refrigeration, CO2 and compressed air to the end users. To improve plant availability by applying maintenance best practices and problem-solving tools. To effectively manage execution of utilities plant improvements and projects. To drive implementation of voyager plant optimization (VPO) in utilities plant and effectively manage and lead powerhouse engineers.
Lead the team and provide continuous improvement of powerhouse operations, team competence and leveraging problem-solving tools.
Analyze plant performance data to identify opportunities for improvement in regards to the plants performance by conducting various reports.
Supervise and manage a highly skilled and motivated team of Power Engineers by conducting team training needs analysis and develop training plans.
Ensure the power house is in compliance with the Power Engineer Regulations made under Section 49 of NS Technical Safety Act Ensure problem solving tools are used by the team and take part in problem solving sessions
Lead brewery ammonia safety systems programs, steam safety system programs, and Biological wastewater treatment safety programs.
Lead the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Powerhouse, and Biological Wastewater Treatment System.
Identify and help implement innovative solutions to improve the performance (reduction of usage) of all key utilities
Participate in the planning and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance and capital projects relating to the Utilities Department
Build action plans to resolve issues
Identify parts requirements
Scope job tasks to complete maintenance & corrective items
Perform work in a manner consistent with plant safety, housekeeping standards, and quality checks
Must have 2nd Class Power Engineer along with relevant working experience.
Demonstrates coaching, mentorship capabilities.
Good understanding of Refrigeration Plant, Steam Plant, Air Plant and CO2 Plant is essential.
Preferred Ammonia experience (Ammonia and Steam PSM in utilities).
Preferred SAP and Microsoft suite experience
Proven experience in managing people and leading a team.
Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to problem solving
Effective verbal and written communication skills
High energy work ethic with exceptional discipline, attendance, and safety record
Results oriented with a strong emphasis on safety.
