The Conservation Officer Service (COS) is a natural resource law enforcement agency that responds to medium, high and unknown risk situations that involve enforcement and public safety and require the use of specialized tools and training. The COS delivers a range of compliance and enforcement services, including investigations and enforcement actions in relation to 33 federal and provincial statutes. The COS is divided into three key operational groups, Field Operations, Provincial Investigations and Program Support. The groups work closely with other government partners in the natural resource sector.
As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide compliance and enforcement administrative, clerical, and financial support services to the work unit and coordinate the day-to-day priorities of the supervisor. Working under time and work volume pressures, the Administrative Assistant readjusts priorities to maintain the flow of information while ensuring deadlines are met. The position is frequently required to accurately enter information into Ministry and compliance and enforcement databases, assemble detailed reports, and prepare correspondence and other material containing highly sensitive and confidential information, while adhering to electronic case management business rules.
Job Requirements:
- Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, or certificate) in office/business, or public administration; AND,
- A minimum one (1) year of working experience in an administrative role in an office environment; OR,
- A combination of secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience may be considered.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro and MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
