Reporting to the Superintendent, the individual will be responsible to support the crews conducting gas mainline install in Delta, BC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for the successful completion of pipeline install project including support of excavating, debris removal, trenching, and site reinstatement.
· Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas)
· Swamper/Spotter for equipment operators
· Firewatch
· Daylighting by hand
· Prepare and clean up construction site.
· Multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment.
· Perform other general labour duties and responsibilities as required.
· Carry out manual labour duties such lifting and working with materials weighing up to 25kg.
· Capacity for manual dexterity with physical strength and stamina.
· Capability to work long hours per day in all weather conditions.

THIS ROLE IS FOR A DURATION OF 1.5 Months.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Equipment Operator will operate equipment. When not operating equipment, the Operator will be expected to work with the Labourers to prepare and clean up the construction sites, move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities.
This position requires operation of equipment in public areas, requiring a heightened sense of safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Equipment operators control equipment by moving levers or foot pedals, operating switches and/or turning dials
- Trenching around buried utilities such as gas mains, underground hydro
- Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris)
- Excavate, backfill and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes, operate pneumatic tampers

- Read grade plans and use grade stakes in measuring the amount of earth to be moved
