JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Product Support Engineer (P.Eng)
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
DEPARTMENT: Product Support Engineering (500/505)
REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design Firearm components, assemblies and ancillaries
· Create 3D CAD models and detail drawings utilizing applicable drawing standards and application of geometric tolerance
· Facilitate the documentation, manufacture and test of weapon systems and prototypes
· Design test fixtures for product evaluation
· Utilize scientific approaches to define test protocols, conduct tests and report results
· Provide final review and sign-off on design and/or material changes
· Support training and program logistics with military and company personnel
· Work with customer’s technical authority to develop scope and estimate costs of contracted engineering tasks
· Monitor project scheduling and prepare deliverables for engineering tasks
· Interface with technologists, technicians, draftsmen and sub-contractors on projects
· Provide technical support to internal departments for the purpose of manufacturing, repair & overhaul, quality assurance, technical publications, purchasing, and contracting
· Provides technical support to the technical publication group
· Support the document/revision control and configuration management process as required
· Other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Review new, and revised drawings for accuracy and safety in accordance with accepted engineering standards
· On-time delivery of contracted engineering tasks
· Maintain a continual knowledge of advancements in technology and product trends in the defense industry
· Obtain, and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada
· Approach all processes with eye for continual improvement
· Maintenance of secure and confidential company and client information
· Adherence to Colt Canada Corporation’s policies, procedures, Canadian and International Law
QUALIFICATONS:
· Minimum 10 years of applicable engineering experience
· Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent
· P.Eng is required
· Able to obtain Restricted Possession and Acquisition License
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Experience in mechanical part and assembly design
· A self-directed work ethic and working well within a team a must
· Metallurgical background and asset
· Thorough knowledge of 3D CAD, part modelling, assemblies is mandatory, experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or PTC Creo an asset
· Working knowledge of ANSI/ASME Y14.100
· Working knowledge of ISO 9001 practices and procedures
WORKING ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY ISSUES, CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Office environment - extended periods of sitting, keyboarding – occasional lifting of equipment and kit up to approximately 50lbs
· Testing range, lab, manufacturing and assembly areas – PPE required
· Domestic and international travel to customer locations and trade shows (< 10%)
