Full Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Safety Coordinator to join our team. As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines. Your main goal will be to always ensure a safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents. This position directly reports to the Construction Manager/ Superintendent at the construction site.
Responsibilities
· Create and implement OHS policies and programs while ensuring that all workers are being followed daily
· Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project
· Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
· Educate employees on safety standards and expectations
· Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
· Report and assist in the investigation of accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
· Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
· Work with HR to set up new employees.
· Assist in completing the risk assessment
· Enforce preventative measures
· Check if all the employees and workers are acting in adherence to rules and regulations
· Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
· Must have experience with Fall Protection and Confined Spaces.
Requirements and skills
·5+ years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role on construction site is preferred
· Excellent knowledge of legislation and procedures
· Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
· Proficient in MS Office
· Outstanding organizational skills
· Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
· Team player
· Good time-management skills
· Great interpersonal and communication skills
· Certificate in occupational health and safety
