Job Description
We require a candidate with experience in configuration and maintenance of computer and network hardware/software. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in industrial environments such as power utility plants and pulp and paper mills, as the position will involve supporting industrial networks and systems on customer sites.
Work for industrial customers could include tasks such as assessing potential network security risks, configuring network switches/firewalls, troubleshooting and maintenance of various computer and network hardware, supporting systems utilizing various Windows operating systems, configuration of various client/server applications, ethernet and serial based communication protocols, network audits and reporting, integrating PLC control systems into industrial networks, PLC control system design, testing, and commissioning.
Experience in C language programming would be considered an asset.
Experience in PLC and HMI systems, primarily Rockwell, would be an asset.
Experience in Trihedral VTS would be an asset.
You are expected to be available for travel within Nova Scotia approximately 1-2 week per month. Travel will be primarily within Nova Scotia, but you may be asked to travel to other locations within North America. Flexible work hours and dress are the norm and you are expected to handle your projects with little supervision. The work environment is relaxed and rewarding.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a post-secondary education degree/diploma in Engineering (Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Information Technology, Networking or other related field) with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Exceptional computer and networking skills are essential in this role.

Some of our customer sites (U.S.) require drug testing.
Salary
Salary will be based on experience. FPS salaries are in line with Engineers Nova Scotia annual salary survey.
