Saskatchewan Air Ambulance is the oldest non-military air ambulance service in North America and currently transports 1,500 Saskatchewan patients per year. The Air Ambulance service provides 24/7 medical air evacuation to residents of the province. The Opportunity
Air Ambulance Services, has an opportunity for a First Officer - Pilot in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the transport of critically ill patients and providing 24/7 air ambulance service for Saskatchewan patients using King Air 200 medevac configured aircrafts.
In this challenging and rewarding position your responsibilities will include:
- Performing the pilot duties on the aircraft and being responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the passengers;
- Operating the aircraft in compliance with Transport Canada regulations that govern rules of the Air;
- Responding in a timely manner to urgent medical requests and providing safe and effective transport of patients, escorts and health care providers;
- Demonstrating flexibility with varying clients needs, weather factors and operational changes;
- Obtaining and maintaining a Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot license (ATPL);
- Ensuring that the aircraft is airworthy for flight;
- Participating in developing and improving standard operating procedures and checklists; and
- Wash, groom, re-stock and fuel aircraft ensuring air worthiness and the highest operation standards are met.
Ideal Candidate
As our successful candidate, you will have:
- The ability to respond accurately, clearly, and courteously to inquiries from clients, greeting passengers and complying with their requests;
- The ability to respectfully interact with a diverse range of clients while maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion;
- The ability to participate and work cooperatively with colleagues to meet client and department goals and objectives with minimal supervision;
- The ability organize and prioritize workload taking into consideration logistics, weather conditions, and dynamic workplace;
- The ability to accurately apply and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, Operational Directives, Regulations, etc.;
- The ability to respond accurately, clearly and courteously to inquiries from clients, greeting passengers and complying with their requests;
- The ability to accurately obtain and interpret aviation information and prepare an operational flight plan taking into consideration aircraft weight and balance;
- Instrument flying time that includes use of GPS/FMS equipment;
- Experience in northern and high density airspace;
- Experience in King Air 200 or similar multi-engine turbine powered aircraft; and
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The requirement for the position is a minimum of 800 hours of flying time with at least 250 hours as pilot in command (PIC) of multi-engine aircraft, a valid Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot license, and the ability to successfully pass an IRT/PPC on King Air B200.

Due to the nature of flight operations, a modified work schedule based on 37.3 hours per week is used.
