What Will You Do?
Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer (CAO), you will collaborate with senior leaders on developing and updating policies and procedures.
You will work closely with operational leaders to implement and ensure policies and procedures are being used effectively in day-to-day operations and are helping their team members follow standard process, empowering them to make good decisions that drive effective teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
· Consult with senior leaders to identify what policies and procedures need to be developed, updated, and implemented operationally.
· Refer to the FMB framework to ensure proper consultation and implementation protocols are followed.
· Work closely with the CAO and Director of Finance (DOF) to understand what current templates and tools to use and update. Prepare policies for Chief and Council review and approval prior to implementation.
· Ensure policies and procedures are clear and provide a basis for making good decisions.
· Align with Chief and Council and Senior leaders to help clarity decision making authority, delegation of authority and how they align with the vision and strategic direction for the bands administration and community.
· Refer to current development of laws, policies, procedure forms and checklist to guide what has to be done and by when. Work with CAO and DOF on what policies need to be added or revised.
· Work with the Health and Safety Consultant and managers to develop an operational Health and Safety manual, onboarding plan and organize what mandatory training should be delivered to all team members.
· Attend and lead bi-weekly Health and Safety meetings.
· Create and implement an audit and investigation procedure. Create a Health and Safety program framework highlighting mandatory legal requirements and how to review audits and investigations as part of the Health and Safety program updates.
· Make recommendations to CAO on how to operationalize the Health and Safety program.
Qualifications and Terms
· Experience in creating and implementing policies and procedures.
· Experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety programs and safe work practices.
· Formal education in technical writing, communications and health and safety is ideal.
· Minimum of 2 year’s work experience in administration and health and safety.
· Intermediate computer skills. Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
· Possess a Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract.
· Must be able to work onsite, in Invermere, BC and travel as required.

· Collaborate effectively with community members, band staff and external partners.
· Understanding of the Shuswap Band community, culture, and Secwepemc values.
· Understands the effects of intergenerational trauma, the effects of colonization and residential schools, and a trauma informed workplace. Knows how to apply these cultural understandings within business foundations and practices.
Additional Information
This is a 6-month term contract to start as soon as possible. We work 9am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.
