Position Summary
Afternoon shift: Monday - Friday 3pm - 12am
The yard operator is responsible for branding, framing, inspecting and preparing product for treatment
Responsibilites
- Inspects product for compliance to standards
- Modifies products’ length or surface using chainsaw and wood wizard.
Brand and tag product to specifications
- Re-classify product as required and record re-classifications accurately
- Sale and responsible operation of company equipment at all times
- Clean-up of working area
- Abides to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safey Act) workplace health and safety standards
- Performs other durites as assigned.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
- Manufacturing or construction experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing hand tools-drills, peaveys, chainsaws, wizards, hammers, tape measures etc is an asset
- Always demonstrate a strong focus on safety.
- Support a respectful environment and works well in a team setting.
- Must possess basic math skills.
- Knowledge of wood products and defects.
- Able to learn and acquire new skills.
- Additional forestry skills such as log scaling, loader operator, log peeling and other machine operations will be valuable assets in progressing to other positions in the yard.
- In house training is provided.
