This position is at the beautiful, 64 - bed Oneida Long Term Care Home located 20 minutes south of London, Ontario on the Oneida Territory.
The Dietary Aide reports to the Manager of Food Services. As a member of the Food Services Team, the Dietary Aide ensures each resident, in the assigned dinning room, is provided their prescribed diet and texture in a safe and timely manner at meal service.
Job Duties:
- Strict adherence to the Ministry of Health & Long Term Care Act and Regulations for Nutrition and Hydration, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Public Health Regulations and the Sanitation Code is required.
- Plate resident's meals using all provided tools and information to ensure every resident receives their prescribed diet and texture.
- Ensure food is handled following the Safe Food Handling practices and attractively plated.
- Operate all equipment in the dietary department.
- Clean and sanitize all food service equipment and wares.
- Clean and set dining areas.
- Complete and document food temperatures, storage temperatures, cleaning lists and other check lists as required for Quality Assurance, and report unmet criteria to the Food Services Manager.
- Report resident meal service issues to the registered staff supervising dining room meal services.
- Ensure that Oneida LTCH and Dietary Department policies and procedures are followed.
- Discuss resident meal service requirements with the HealthCare Team members as required.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Food Service Worker, (FSW), training program at a registered College in Ontario OR be currently enrolled in the FSW training program OR agree to enroll in a FSW training program.
- For applicants currently enrolled in the FSW program, they must successfully complete the program within 3 years from the first day of employment.
- Food Handler Training Certificate (Public Health).
- Knowledgeable with respect to the nutritional/dietary needs of a geriatric population.
- Knowledge of sanitation and food handling practices.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and follow job routine to ensure continuing productivity.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Able to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Have access to reliable mode of transportation as home is not on a bus route.
