Established in 1954, Berry and Smith Trucking is a family owned and operated transportation company providing class leading transportation services to our customers throughout North America.
We’re seeking an experienced (licensed Commercial or Heavy Duty) Technician to keep our modern fleet of transit buses serviced and running efficiently.
This will be a full-time role based out of our head office in Penticton, BC. This position will be responsible for diagnosing equipment, performing repairs on a variety of BC Transit buses, creating repair orders within software system, assisting with on-road breakdowns where required and undergoing ongoing training to ensure comprehensive knowledge with new equipment and software systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform high quality professional diagnosis and repair services on all assigned jobs and possess own provision of tooling.
2. Communicate with Leadhand Mechanic to advise of needed parts for repairs and service work.
3. Assist with on-road breakdowns, when necessary, attending breakdowns in service vehicle.
4. Perform equipment pre-trips and startups in mornings as required.
Required skills:
- Commercial Transport Red Seal with Vehicle Inspectors Certificate. (third or fourth year apprentices will be considered).
- Knowledge of Cummins is an asset.
- Good familiarity with air brake systems.
- Proven planning skills with the ability to remain calm and quickly make logical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills with a focus on building and maintaining good working relationships with customers and employees.
- Strong computer skills (outlook, excel, TMW Asset Maintenance).
- Experience with parts programs and diagnostic software (Detroit, Cummins, Navistar).
- Previous experience with Transit Buses and commercial vehicles.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
Requirements:
· Compliance with the companies Drug and Alcohol program.
· Satisfactory results from a nurse or doctor's medical are a requirement.
· Criminal Record Search.
· Be prepared to work on a 6-month probation period.
· Wages commensurate with experience.
