We are currently seeking talented, energetic individuals to join the Supply Chain team at our Milton location as a Category Manager.
This is the role:
Category Manager / Procurement Category Manager reports to the North American Procurement Director to develop and implement an economical supply strategy for Rockwool’s raw material, packaging, and service requirements throughout North America.
- Develop, Implement and maintain a Best in Class Procurement Strategy for Specified Category throughout NA.
- Focus on cost savings ideas, projects and programs that deliver year over year savings and product enhancements. Monitor and report supplier performance as measured by on time performance, quality and cooperativeness.
- Provide best in class service to RWNA’s internal customer base
- Tender and re-tender material/services requirements as necessary, and negotiate contracts when they are due for renewal.
- Handle claims in an urgent and professional manner ensuring quick results mitigating any loss of production time and or value.
- Adapt total cost models for assigned categories, and or all procurement initiatives.
- Track and assimilate current and future market information on applicable commodities, and material cost drivers. Explore and identify potential new materials and suppliers which can backup/ assist/ replace current supply chain.
- Interact with Production, Engineering, Technical Support, Accounting, Logistics and Marketing as needed to create a coordinated team approach to new and existing products.
- Provide input and oversee administration of monthly purchasing reports including GSP KPIs for RWNA NA.
- Oversee performance of inbound logistics and relationships with material supplier partners. Assist and contribute to the fulfilment of budget and strategic plans of the company within your control.
- Provide all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in a timely manner including budgetary forecasts and market analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel as necessary.
This is What You Offer:
- Post-secondary education.
- Computer literate (MS Office, Word, Excel, PP)
- 5+ years’ experience in a related functional area
- Drive, commitment, self-motivation and high energy.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good communication skills
- Strong knowledge of purchasing principles, tendering processes, supplier selection, supplier management, including relationship development with both suppliers and direct reports.
- Knowledge of basic raw material technical requirements.
- Knowledge of and hands on experience with SAP for material purchases and reporting.
- In depth understanding of freight and logistical movement of inbound material as well as overseas logistics
- Proven leadership skills from past management experience.
- Industrial experience preferably in the “Packaging Industry”
- Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
- Self-starter that enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment;
- Relies on judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- Wide degree of creativity and latitude
