The Manufacturing Engineer will support all aspects of new programs as it pertains to equipment, fixture builds, and process development. They will see this component of the program from inception through product development, prototype, launch, PPAP, production and program close. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with a cross-functional team to successfully support a stellar launch of new business, and to ensure all programs meet resource requirements, manufacturing performance and customer objectives at optimum profitability.

1. SPECIFIC DUTIES
1.1. Contribute to the develop of Metrican equipment and fixture standards.
1.2. Provide mechanical expertise for the purpose of determining the feasibility of equipment and fixture designs for potential projects, focusing heavily on automation, ergonomics and efficient design.
1.3. Review and coordinate with Program Management all documents prior to quote of new programs (i.e. quotes, math data, feasibilities, etc.).
1.4. Track all equipment and fixture projects, obtaining outside quotes, and project timelines.
1.5. Develop all program processes and work with Production Team on layout and implementation.
1.6. Maintain project documentation as it pertains to fixtures, equipment, and processes to identifying project risk/issues and develop mitigation and contingency plans where required.
1.7. Assess new or existing program requirements including capital expenditures, and advise the Plant Manager. Track all the requirements to ensure timing of various elements/milestones are met.
1.8. Works closely with management in order to identify and understand specific customer needs.
1.9. Communicate project progress, engineering changes and other design information to other members of the Metrican organization, as required.
1.10. Responsible for coordinating equipment transfer from the supplier to the facility. Work with the maintenance team to ensure a successful integration and product launch of all new equipment.
1.11. Develop and maintain an electronic database for tracking all equipment builds.
1.12. Ensures that any costing changes related to equipment, fixtures, or process are properly documented, communicated and implemented with the appropriate departments, personnel, customer and suppliers.
1.13. Provide assistance to Plant Managers in resolving production issues related to day-to-day production activities.
1.14. Follow-up with customers and suppliers as required concerning equipment and fixture quality, while ensuring on time deliveries are continuously met.
1.15. Attend weekly APQP meetings.
1.16. Attend all feasibility meetings.
1.17. Provides support to the Quoting/Estimating Department as required.
1.18. Implements and monitors cost reduction programs to determine if pre-determined and desired results are being achieved.
1.19. Provide technical support for marketing and sales initiatives.
1.20. Travel to Metrican, customer and supplier locations to participate in project activities/meetings as required.
1.21. Incorporate a continuous improvement philosophy and systems, emphasizing the need to improve existing standards, processes, quality and cost efficiencies. Make recommendations for cost reduction measures and process improvements.
1.22. Participate in Metrican strategic planning activities as required.
1.23. Ensure all processes and equipment comply with all regulatory and Health and Safety requirements.
1. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
1.1. Quality Policy/EMS Policy/Health & Safety Policy/AODA, Company policies and procedures.
1.2. Significant knowledge of manufacturing quality processes.
1.3. Full understanding of IATF16949 ISO14001 Quality System/EMS (APQP, PPAP and GD&T)

2. EDUCATION
2.1. Secondary School Diploma
2.2. Minimum of five years’ experience in the automotive environment is necessary
