Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Blackstone Pipeline and Environmental Solutions, the Engineer will design and analyze proposals to fit customers needs while providing technical and operational support to field and sales staff. The ideal candidate will be experience performing field hydrotesting of mainline pipeline sectors including above ground tests as well as buried pipe (restrained). This position will work in both local and remote locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyses all Industrial Services projects from an operations perspective
- Write job procedures, cost estimates and programs for operations staff to follow when performing jobs in the field
- Install and monitor all testing equipment from mechanical deadweights, digital deadweights, circle charts, and temperature recorders
- Verify all data submitted by clients for clarity and accuracy
- Monitor all applicable field projects while providing occasional onsite supervision depending on project technical difficulty
- Monitor expenditures and cost controls for projects
- Analyze the performance of job programs while updating and changing procedures as required
- Conduct post-project reviews to analyze any discrepancies as well as to improve future programs and operations
- Update and maintain simulation programs as required
- Regularly attend sales meetings as required to function as operations support for clients
- Identify needs for new or altered equipment, and work with applicable staff to develop new equipment or tools
- Maintain a current professional status
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Engineering Technologist Diploma, or;
- BSc in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred
- Engineer in good standing with APEGGA or Technician in good standing with ASET
- Familiar with the following codes and regulations;
- CSA Z662
- ASME B31.3
- ASME B31.4
- ASME B31.1
- Ability to calculate the pressure profile of a liquid pipeline and determine the maximum allowed pressure to be placed on a pipeline based on the grade of the pipe
- Understanding of how specified minimum yield strengths (SMYS) affect the calculation and allowable pressure requirements for testing
- Knowledge of how the design factors of the pipeline affect the SMYS as well as location to determine the maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP)
- Experience pressuring up a pipeline for pressure and leak test, know when a PV-plot is required and how to perform the plot
- Understand how to determine if the system has air or is yielding during the squeeze operation
- Know how to perform a controlled bleed down as to not stress the pipeline system.
- Familiar with winter testing of pipelines is also an asset from winter blends to utilizing warm water
