PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a specific focus on MySQL.
- Mastery in creating regular backups and ensuring their integrity.
- Proficient in setting up and maintaining replication servers.
- Expertise in configuring read-only and master-to-master replication setups.
- Skillful in optimizing database performance using indexing strategies.
- Experience with federated tables and the ability to integrate multiple servers for distributed databases.
- Experience with Linux and Windows Server administration; you should be comfortable with shell scripting and server security protocols.
- Experience in database monitoring; you should be proficient in using monitoring tools to track performance, errors, and other database events.
- System architecture design skills; you should be able to design and document database architectures and plans for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to diagnose and fix issues in complex, interconnected systems.
- Solid understanding of SQL performance tuning, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal and team relationship skills; ability to work well as part of a team or individually.
SECONDARY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing).
- Experience with ColdFusion or Lucee; expertise in application-level database interactions.
- Familiarity with front-end and back-end technologies such as HTML, Java, JavaScript, and the MERN Stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js).
- Experience with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, and documentation.
- Experience in application development using Ext JS, Node.js, React.
- Experience in utilizing AWS for hosting and development.
- Strong proficiency in using Git for version control.
- Experience with SAAS development (preferred).
- Experience developing email services (preferred).
- Experience developing SMS services (preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Database Management and Optimization: Take ownership of our database environment by managing, maintaining, and continually optimizing its architecture for performance and scalability.
- Version Upgrades: Proactively update and migrate our database environment, ensuring seamless upgrades to the latest MySQL versions without impacting ongoing operations.
- Team Collaboration: Act as the database subject matter expert within the development team, collaborating on application development tasks that require intricate database interactions.
- System Audits and Performance Monitoring: Conduct thorough and regular system audits, employing tools and best practices to ensure optimal performance, security, and data integrity across all databases.
- Technical Strategy and Planning: Work in close alignment with managerial staff to define comprehensive features and system specifications, contributing to the long-term technical strategy of the organization.
- Client-Centric Technical Implementation: Collaborate effectively with the development team to translate client requirements into technical solutions, with an unwavering focus on client satisfaction.
- Customer Impact Awareness: Operate with a keen awareness that the output of your role has a direct impact on both the organization and its customers and strive to exceed expectations in every task.
- Innovative Problem-Solving: Lead the identification and resolution of software and database issues by developing innovative solutions that maintain a high degree of quality, security, and customer satisfaction.
- Efficient Time Management: Utilize robust processes and project management methodologies to ensure high productivity levels, optimal application performance, and prompt responses to critical issues.
- Proactive Issue Identification and Resolution: Adopt a proactive and prescriptive approach to problem-solving, identifying potential issues in application functionality and performance and implementing effective solutions to prevent and resolve them.
- Technical Documentation: Actively contribute to the creation and review of technical design specifications, diagrams, wireframes, and client Statements of Work, addressing both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Technology Trend Adaptation: Stay updated on emerging software technologies, assessing their utility and appropriateness for the company, and take the initiative to recommend and implement new technologies when beneficial.
