GDMS-C is seeking a Systems Engineer/Systems Integration and Test Engineer to join our team working to support the Land Command Support System (LCSS).
The Land Command Support System (LCSS) is the system of systems that primarily supports the Canadian Army operations, it serves as an interconnected network of digital communications and information systems by which the data needed to plan, direct and control tactical land operations is communicated, stored, processed and displayed.
This position does require on-site work at our Ottawa office, but does allow for some remote work during the week.
The responsibilities and range of activities will vary, but in general will include:

Participate in the requirements elicitation process and prepare requirements documents and specifications.

Develop, document, and review system designs and use cases, define system interfaces, and conduct analyses with support from lead and other senior engineers.

Develop Integration and Test Plans and Procedures, including configuration descriptions and expected outcomes, in accordance with design documents.

Build, configure, and validate test environments

Assist in planning and coordinating test activities
-
Share knowledge and skills with other team members.

Execute formal and informal test procedures, gather appropriate measures and data, analyze and interpret test data, and prepare test reports.

Coordinate with the other teams on design and testing.

Identify, investigate and document defects, and verify solutions.

Deliver presentations to GDMS-C management and customers.

Management of requirement mapping to test cases.

Develop and maintain automated test tools and scripts

Support external test events and field trials
Basic Qualifications:
Education and Experience
-
4+ years of relevant experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or applicable discipline

Working knowledge of MS Office suite tools including Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.

Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.

Related technical degree/diploma supplemented with applicable experience will be considered

Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Assets

Experience in defining, developing, and executing system tests for complex functionality, and understanding the interdependencies and interactions between subsystems.

Familiarity with radios, modulation schemes, voice/data networks.

Familiarity with Ethernet communications, networking, VLANs, Internet Protocol (IP), etc.

Understanding of the product development life cycle and associated processes.

Experience in development of test automation scripts
